This public art project, Urban Bee, was created in collaboration with the City of Bee Cave, TX, as part of the Bees of Bee Cave sculpture program. The initiative invited local artists to transform large-scale bee sculptures into vibrant, community-focused artworks that celebrate creativity and local culture.
Mila Sketch's sculpture, titled Urban Bee, was exhibited for six months in the heart of Bee Cave's Hill Country Galleria, a bustling city square that draws both residents and visitors. As part of the city's commitment to accessible public art, all sculptures were installed outdoors to engage the community and enrich the cultural landscape.
Following the exhibition, Mila was honored when one of the program's donors chose to purchase Urban Bee from the city, ensuring the piece found a permanent home and continued its journey beyond the public display, supporting the foundation's mission.
This project was supported by the Bee Cave Arts Foundation, which provided materials, studio space, and a stipend for selected artists. It was a meaningful opportunity to contribute to the visual identity of Bee Cave and connect with the community through creative expression.
